Hairdressing - (FETAC Level 5)

This full time course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Hairdressing. The course can lead to employment in hairdressing as a second or third year stylist. It leads to entry into the Diploma in Hairdressing (with Beauty Care).

Entry Requirements
School Leavers:

  • CAO/CAS does not apply to our courses. Students who have passed Leaving Certificate of Leaving Certificate Applied or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be 17 years.
  • Applicatns may be interviewed.
  • Entry requirements may be waived, in some instances.


Mature Students

  • Listowel Community College welcomes applications from mature students.
  • Applicants may be interviewed.
  • Entry requirements may be waived for mature students depending on their life experience.


Certification:

  • FETAC Level 5
  • Red Cross First Aid Certificate or Occupational First Aid Certificate
  • Manual Handling (Course delivered by a Chartered Physiotherapist)

Course Fees: There are no course fees as this is an ESF funded course.

Registration, examination and Kit fees (i.e. materials) will apply. Grants for the course are means-tested. Students should apply to their local VEC office regarding eligibility.

Job Opportunities: Work in Hair Salons, Clinics, Health and Fitness Clubs, Gymnasium/Leisure Centres. Work as second or third year stylist.
