This is a one year full-time course that will enable students to gain employment in the sports and leisure industry. The points from this course can be used to gain entry to certain third level courses. This course is designed to facilitate students who wish to pursue employment in the areas of leisure, coaching or P.E. teaching.
We are delighted to announce that for the forth coming academic year (2011-2012), Kerry football manager Jack O'Connor will be a guest tutor on this course. Jack has managed Kerry to three All-Ireland and three National League Gaelic Football titles as well as All-Ireland Vocational Schools and All-Ireland Colleges football titles with Coláiste na Sceilge.

Students should have completed the FETAC Level 5 Sport and Recreation course. Candiates without Level 5 Sport and Recreation can also apply providing they have coaching badges in two sports and significant experience in the area of sport/fitness. Mature students are also welcome.
Students will spend a total of four weeks in local schools developing their coaching skills.
Students who complete this course will receive the following award: FETAC Level 6 award in Advanced Sport Development.
Two places in first year of the Health and Leisure Studies course at the Institute of Technology in Tralee have been reserved for graduates of this course.
Course Fees
No tuition fees. Students may qualify for grants from their local VEC. Registration and examination fees will apply.
